DEEPEN YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF THE CHAKRAS WORKSHOP - ONLINE VIA ZOOM ON 16th MAY 2021

The Workshop will be led by Sarah Ryan

Sarah has loved, studied and practised yoga for 50 years. She has been a teacher and teacher trainer for both the British Wheel and, having been appointed by TKV Desikachar in 2006, the Krishnamacharya Yoga and Healing Foundation. She is a Yoga Therapist and also teaches Vedic chanting. She continues her studies with her mentor, Kausthub Desikachar, and his mother, Menaka Desikachar.

Yoga teaches us to place our attention wherever we wish. When we place it in the chakras, it becomes a very powerful tool for change. The chakras are all centres of energy, linked to each other, but with different functions. The five lower chakras are associated with the five elements, whilst the upper two are linked to the individual soul and the Divine. They hold subconscious memories and impressions, which yoga practice can often bring to the surface, so that they may be dealt with. They are also associated with the organs of the body. When energy is not balanced well, then problems ensue, physical, emotional, spiritual... yoga is a wonderful way of rebalancing, of helping to change habits and patterns which are unhelpful to us, and understanding the chakras can make that practice vastly more effective.

We invite you to join us online via Zoom for this workshop from 10.30AM to 05.00PM. There will be a 90 minute lunch break from 1.00PM to 2.30PM and additional 30 minute breaks during the morning and afternoon sessions. The day is divided into four sessions, which will be both theory and practice. The practice will be more pranayama and meditation, but there will be some movement also.

This workshop will deepen your knowledge of the chakras, how they link in with yoga practice, and how we can use our practice of asana, pranayama and meditation to influence them, so that they are more balanced and prana flows more freely between them. This will therefore obviously help both with your own personal development and with practice planning for classes.

Attendees should ensure they have everything they need to be comfortable. Mats and blocks would be a good idea for the practices, although some of them will be able to be done on a chair - participants will be able to choose whehter to sit on a chair or on the floor.

This event is offered to all members of the Yoga for Health and Education Trust (YHET) and the cost of this event will be borne by the Trust. This workshop will qualify as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for yoga teachers. For further information please email [email protected]

Places on this event are limited and Registration closes on 14th May. Please note that if you are new to YHET you may be required to complete an additional online Health Questionnaire prior to attending the event. This is required for insurance purposes.

You will require Zoom set up on your PC, tablet or mobile device prior to the session. Full details on how to set this up will be sent to attendees prior to the event. Mobile phones are not suitable for these online sessions as the screen is too small.
